If you missed out on the Equus Bass 770 then you have a second chance to support the luxury muscle car movement over at Equus Automotive. This time we have a Corvette donor that is transformed into the Equus Throwback.
Using the Corvette allows the 25 car production run of the Throwback to start at around $130k and rocket up from there into a 220+ mph, 1000 hp / 822 lb-ft of torque vomitting battle axe that will be a sheet-covered heirloom upon arrival.
Equus is making like a tree and branching out into American vehicle customization. The goal is to be like Brabus or Alpina, where they make a great car more exotic and exclusive. Though only around since 2014, I personally think that Equus has their game face on and can deliver a far more modern coachbuilder experience than many companies in the US.
Here is the BASS 770 for those that have forgotten. The Bass (think pitch not fish) utilizes a 6.2L supercharged LS9 V8 engine making 640 hp and 605 lb-ft. There is a rear mounted 6-speed dual clutch manual transmission that I didnt know ever existed and the Bass has a curb weight of a scotch over 3,600 lbs.
Only 15 of these completely handcrafted aluminum and carbon fiber luxury muscle cars were produced. That means prices were in the $250,000 to $500,000 range.
Personally, I would have called the Throwback the Treblemaker...

Wow, the Throwback is not a pretty car. And I was actually wondering what ended up of Equus when you posted this.

I get what they are doing with the naming but I don’t think it works for them.

Wow that attempt at a split window thing is so lame. And those exhaust tips just look stupid. The tailights do look good tho, but everything else is tacky as that brown and yellow shag carpet in you grandmas house.

The front grill looks good and so do the tail lights. The profile makes me want to scream in horror. Thanks for the write up otherwise I probably would have not known about this car.

Don’t put that on Detroit, we get enough bad press already.

Certain angles look cool and nostalgic, but that rear quarter panel... looks like someone smashed into it with a truck.
